National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 26.5 - Impacts similar to that in the flood of record on April 1 1987 and that of December 2023. Avoid travel between Carrabassett Valley and North Anson.
- 23 - Infrastructure and property damage along the Carrabassett River between Carrabassett Valley to North Anson. Flood waters into first floors of homes in Kingfield. Access in and out of the New Portland up to Carrabassett Valley area is significantly limited. Route 27, 16, and 146 flooded.
- 22 - Major flooding occurs. Flooding comparable to that in May 2023. Properties along Island Road flooded in Kingfield. Major disruptions to travel in and out of the Carrabassett Valley region with the likely closure of Route 27. Significant flooding in North Anson if coinciding high flows are occurring along the Kennebec River.
