National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 11 - In recent history the river has only approached or exceeded this level during the June 1982 and March 2010 floods. Prolonged road closures are likely. Heed the advice of local officials, and evacuate if asked to do so. Avoid flooded roads.
- 9 - FEMA Flood Insurance Studies indicate that if you are located in the 1% (100 Year) floodplain, your property is at a high risk for flooding. A 1 percent flood is a flood that has a 1 percent chance of occurring in any year. Flooding along the Wood River will block access to portions of Tall Timbers Drive, Leroy Drive, Wood River Circle and Wood River Drive for a prolonged period of time. Dow Field in Hopkinton is substantially inundated. Floodwaters back up behind the Skunk Hill Road Bridge.
- 8.7 - FEMA Flood Insurance documents indicate that at 8.7 feet, if you are located in the 1% (100 year) floodplain, your property is at a high risk for flooding. A 1 percent flood is a flood that has a 1 percent chance of occurring in any year. Flooding along the Wood River will block access to portions of Tall Timbers Drive, Leroy Drive, Wood River Circle and Wood River Drive for a prolonged period of time. Dow Field in Hopkinton is substantially flooded, and floodwaters back up behind Skunk Hill Road Bridge.
