National Water Model Hydrograph
Official NWS streamflow forecasts are produced by NWS hydrologic forecasters for river gauge locations using hydrologic models which are calibrated to that location. This process considers additional guidance and information, including local expertise and experience, to produce the best forecast possible. The NWM output provides supplemental guidance to NWS forecasters and should not be considered an official NWS river forecast.
Flood Impacts
- 28 - Catastrophic flooding of all areas along Contentnea Creek in Greene and Lenoir counties. Numerous residences completely submerged. The Green Street bridge in Snow Hill is flooded. Many homes on the north side of the creek from the Wilson County line downstream to the east of Hookerton are severely inundated. All roads in and around the creek are impassable. This is comparable to the flood after Hurricane Floyd.
- 26 - Devastating flooding for all areas near the creek. Flooding south of the creek downstream of Hookerton, and in northwest Greene County is dire. Many residences entirely underwater. Highway 123 is flooded in numerous spots around Hookerton. In Snow Hill, homes are inundated along Beaman Old Creek Road, and along HWY 91 near Greene Central High. Most roads north of the creek are underwater with numerous homes flooded.
- 24 - Numerous homes and roads on the north side of the creek are inundated especially along Four Way Road and Ormondsville Road. In Snow Hill, properties along Mill Street are flooded. Homes along Beaman Old Creek Road are inundated, and water surrounds homes on NC 91 near Greene Central High. Many homes in parts of northwest Greene County near Highway 58 are inundated.
